–Werner Enterprises, Inc. recently released its 2025 Sustainability Brief, which details the company’s commitment to sustainability. Werner said the publication shows how it has moved beyond simple compliance reporting to further align its business strategy around environmental impact, risk management and strategic investments in its people and modern fleet, according to a statement from the Omaha, Nebraska-based carrier.

Key highlights from the 2025 Sustainability Brief include:
- Fleet Decarbonization and Technology: Details a comprehensive strategy for fleet modernization, investments in next-generation transportation technologies and advancements in alternative fuel adoption. Highlights successful efficiency gains through idle-reduction programs and network optimization that reduce empty miles.
- Emissions Reduction and Transparency: Achieved a 24% reduction in Scope 1 CO2 emissions since 2020 and newly disclosed Scope 2 emissions for increased transparency. The Waste and Energy Scorecard tracks material recycling progress and usage reduction across the organization.
- Strengthened Governance and Commitments: Shares updated SASB matrix and UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework. Focuses on core areas including climate action, safety and workforce well-being, reinforcing a proactive commitment to reducing emissions and promoting sustainable operations.
