Expect detour on eastbound I-70 in Maryland Wednesday and Thursday
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration today announced it will detour traffic from Interstate 70 East in Washington County. The detour will be in place on Wednesday and Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather permitting.
Washington County is located near the Pennsylvania state line about 73 miles northwest of Baltimore.
Detour from I-70 east to I-81 north:
- Traffic traveling on I-70 east will take Exit 26 to I-81 south then take Exit 2 Williamsport onto US 11. Motorists will then take US 11 to I-81 north Harrisburg then return on to I-70 east. Drivers can expect the detour from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.
Overnight motorists should plan extra travel time. Signage, construction barrels and cones to assist motorists in navigating through the detour and the work zone.
